CONCERN: The scene of Tuesday morning’s accident on Campbell Street. To the rear is the corner that resident Maryse Younger is concerned about.A RESIDENT who lives near the intersection of Connell and Campbell streets says she believes it is unsafe.

Maryse Younger, a family day carer, witnessed the accident that occurred on Tuesday morning and said it was a realisation of her worst fears.

“The problem of this intersection is several factors that combine to make it unsafe.

“Firstly, when turning left from Connell Street onto Campbell Street, you move into traffic that is just slowing from 70kmh to 60kmh.

“The cars turning from Connell have a give way sign, but most drivers will come to a stop because vision onto Campbell towards the oncoming traffic is substantially blocked by cars parked near the milk bar and a high fence.”

The accident on Tuesday allegedly involved three vehicles, one of which was turning into Ms Younger’s driveway after coming from Connell Street.

“My house is so close to the intersection that when I make the left hand turn onto Campbell Street from Connell Street, I don’t even attempt to then make the immediate left hand turn into my own driveway. I park in the cycling lane and when traffic is clear I then back up my driveway,” Ms Younger said.
